President's Message 2010

During 2010, Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc. and Ontario & Trumansburg Telephone Companies has continued to achieve tremendous business growth. I am delighted to report that, thanks to the hard work of our employees and our outstanding product portfolio, we exceeded our sales goals in the First Quarter.

New client accounts in the Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) sector include Auburn Memorial Hospital, the Canandaigua YMCA, Ongweoweh Corp., and Seneca Cayuga ARC. We also installed Cisco solutions at Curbell Inc., Goulds Pumps, and Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists PC.

Other exciting news from FLTG and OTTC includes:

Featured in Forbes
The May 10 issue of Forbes magazine features a full-page, full-color profile of the FLTG family of companies as one of the leading businesses in Upstate New York. The article is subtitled: “Rural Phone Companies Spawn Regional Telecom Powerhouse.”

Buffalo Office Move
In May, we will relocate our Buffalo-area office to accommodate business growth and provide more office space. Our new location will be the famous Wurlitzer Building in North Tonawanda, on U.S. Route 62, Niagara Falls Blvd. – midway between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. During the early 1900s, Wurlitzer made their famous Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organs in this building. Throughout the years, Wurlitzer also manufactured radios and jukeboxes there. We will soon provide more details about an open house ceremony.

Ontario Telephone Recognized by PSC

For the sixth consecutive year, Ontario Telephone Company has received a prestigious recommendation from the New York State Public Service Commission. The PSC once again noted that consumers of Ontario Telephone Company received "Excellent Service" from the company and our employees.

Case Studies in Book Published by RIT
Business case studies about FLTG and OTTC are featured in a new book published by RIT Press at Rochester Institute of Technology. In Telecommunications History & Policy into the 21st Century, author Ronald Fulle discusses the history and evolution of the telecommunications industry through the new millennium.

The facility, named the Finger Lakes Technologies Group Multi-Purpose Room in recognition of our gift, will help meet the workforce needs of high-tech businesses throughout the Finger Lakes region.

Bob Griswold Honored
FLTG-OTTC board chair and Finger Lakes Community College trustee Bob Griswold was honored in March with a 2010 Marvin Rapp Award for Distinguished Service. The New York Community College Trustees Inc. presents the award in recognition of a community-college trustee’s dedicated and effective service.
